With production and string arrangements by Andrew Bohman, this project brings old friends Caleb Stine and Nicholas Sjostrom together again in a whole new way. Intimate yet far reaching, these songs ask “Can we be honest for a moment?
Bohman approached the duo, looking to record original material for his Masters Thesis in Recording Technology at Baltimore’s Peabody conservatory. Agreeable, Stine and Sjostrom brought two new songs apiece along with drums, guitars, basses, synths, fiddles and voices. Each layer was recorded with both musicians playing together, starting with Stine’s Martin HD-28 acoustic and Sjostrom on An Die Musik’s grand piano. They continued to bass and drums, etc, always with both musicians recording at the same time. This duo approach adds a continuing conversation of sounds—a sonic landscape fully enhanced by Bohman’s studio vision.
